Payment methods

Can I set up a credit account for my firm?
No, unfortunately not. All payment must be made in advance. The greater the payment, the greater the discount from basic prices.

Can I set up a direct debit?
No, sorry. We prefer to avoid security issues by never recording your credit card information. The payment process takes place entirely on WorldPay pages.

Can I have a discount for quantity?

Certainly. Our discount structure is set out on our payment page.

What do I do if I need to spend more money?

You can top up your account at any time.  We will remind you that your account is running low in any event.  We suggest your cashier’s department supervises the maintenance of the account so that no fee earner need worry about whether your account is in credit.

Can I make regular installments?

Yes, however, it may be more beneficial to make larger payments as we can give you a better discount.

What report do you give us as to what we have paid and spent?

Our system enables you to visit your entire firm’s history where you can see:

-                      Date and amount of each payment;

-                      Discount on each payment;

-                      Our reference, your client reference, title, date and cost of each order, by fee earner name;

-                      Balance of money in account.

The Pure Law service: information I receive

What law do you cover?

Pure law covers all basic law, including employment, IT and the Internet, property, commercial, health and safety, scientific law and more. However, we not cover esoteric specialisms such as shipping law.  If we are not happy to take your instructions, we shall tell you.

How fast do you respond?

We aim to report within three working days.  Often, we can deliver much faster.  If for any reason, it is likely to take more than three days, we will tell you and give you the opportunity to cancel your order and have your account credited.

What is included in the report?

Each Pure Law report provides you with:

-                      our reference;

-                      your client reference;

-                      title;

-                      date;

-                      cost;

-                      fee earner name;

-                      and of course our research report. This gives you an analysis of the law relating to the facts or your question.

Do you provide advice or can I use your report as advice?

Our service is legal research.  We leave you, as the lawyer, to apply it to your clients affairs and to advise.  Of course, there may be an element of opinion in what we report.  How you use our report is a matter entirely for you. However, our terms explicitly exclude liability for advising anyone, including you.

Can I speak to person who prepares my information?

It may be possible to speak on the telephone to a manager, but we do not accept any instruction by telephone, so as to avoid confusion. It is for you to instruct us in terms which will best satisfy your requirement for information.

Do you quote sources I can look up or give to "the other side"?

Yes, provided you buy enough time to enable us to provide this information.  It may not be possible to find all case law on account of the vast volume of it.

What about confidentiality of info I give you?

So far as your own information is concerned, we are a service provider to the legal sector, just like any other.  We treat your information with the same care and confidentiality as we would expect you to treat ours. As for client confidentiality, we extract no information from the instructions you give us.  If you happen to mention a client’s name, or inadvertently give other information which may identify a client, we shall simply ignore it. We have no incentive nor interest whatever in your clients’ affairs. Further, our researchers are solicitors of the Supreme Court of India and fully aware of the importance of client confidentiality.

Please spell out exactly what data you keep and what you might do with it.

Please read our privacy policy.   We comply with all known law and protocols on use of information. We do not sell or disclose information to any person outside of the interests of Andrew Taylor, presently Net Lawman Ltd and Where the World Meets Ltd.

Much "law" in fact depends on experience of practitioner. How do you present the law on a matter with a big element of practical experience?

We simply do the best we can.  We prefer that you instruct us to find the law.  Our service does not include the giving of advice.  However, there may sometimes be an element of judgement in one of our reports, depending on how you instructed us.

Can you check and add to our work already done?

Of course. The process is the same.

Pure Law lawyers and our sources?

How do lawyers untrained in English law manage to write an authoritative text?

We do not give advice.  We provide a legal research service.  To a trained legal mind, the law is the law. Our solicitor team simply look up the same sources as you yourselves would use.

What sources do your lawyers use?

They use the same English law sources as are available to UK solicitors and barristers.

What are the qualifications of the researcher?

Our team are solicitors and are qualified and working in India.

Do you use legislation and common law?

Yes!

Can I be sure that the info you provide covers every possible angle, argument and case, etc?

No!  We take the view that you are a practitioner who needs a fast answer to a particular question of law.  The extent of our reply depends on how much you want to pay.  It is up to you to decide how detailed you want our report to be.  If, when you see our report, you want more work, we will go on digging for as long as you want to go on paying.

How to get the best from Pure Law

Can I use your work as if it is my own?

Certainly.  We are merely a resource, like a book or CD.

How do I save most money by using Pure Law?

We charge by the hour.  Our cost is less to you than the cost of an assistant, let alone a solicitor. Once your fee earners are accustomed to using Pure Law, they will be able to instruct us in five minutes.  Our lawyers may cost you, say, £50 an hour - say one third of your own cost.  So there is your saving. Additionally, the more hours you buy in one go, the less you pay per hour.

What other benefit is there in using Pure Law?

·        First, we may be faster than your own resources.

·        Second, we may have access to a greater range of information and so may be able to provide a more thorough report than you could from your own resources.

·        Third, we can give you relief at pressure points, such as when a single case comes to a climax, leaving your staff over stretched.

Who has copyright in your work for me?

As you will know, copyright in legal texts is a complicated subject!  So far only as copyright in a report is ours, we will continue to retain it.  We will give you a licence to use it for 80 years in any way you wish, for the affairs of one client only.
